I got this for my nephew graduating from VPK . I took a look at it before I gave it to him and loved everything about it ! The story , the illustrations , the perfect gift !

Read this with my kindergartener and we enjoyed this book. I loved the writing style of this book. This is a great book to read before the first day of school to help ease any first day jitters.

This book is absolutely perfect for my four year old who is going to Kindergarten next year. He loves the book, its story, the pictures and saying the quotes in the book that the King of Kindergarten says! I especially love that it’s written to the reader about what they’ll do on their first day at school. I told my son the story’s about his first day and the way it’s written makes him really feel that it really is! I cannot say enough good things about this book! It emphasizes kindness and gets him excited about going to his new school! Just love it!!

I appreciated that the book showed a male student of color having a wonderful first day of kindergarten. As to the reviews complaining about the girl sitting alone in the back of the class..the girl is sitting with the teacher, which is usually the most coveted spot in a kindergarten classroom. Throughout the book, the girl is shown playing and interacting with the other students.

This book would be good for preparing your rising kindergartner to encourage them and prepare them for the challenges that they will be facing to make it easy on them
