Q: It keeps having this constant annoying audio humming noise in the background when I plug my handphones into the mic, or play it back?

I had the exact same issue. In Windows 10 I was able to fix this by going into the Sound Control Panel, selecting the microphone from Playback devices and muting the microphone from the levels tab. It seems to be treating this microphone as two separate mics. The first is the actual microphone itself and a second "mic" through the headphone jack.

OH MY GOD My mic wasn't working for months. I thought it was due to the nerdy $300 USB C adapter I had just purchased so I'd been putting it off. I just unplugged the Hub and plugged things directly in to diagnose the problem. Turns out, I'd accidentally switched the microphone off during dusting. It still shows up in the microphone options for Mac so I figured that it was just a bad mic. I came down here to the reviews as I didn't want to shell out for another. I want to reiterate here --- The thing literally just accidentally got switched off but still showed up in my sound so I almost wasted $100 being an idiot.

Q: Is a pop filter recommended?

Pop filters protect the microphone from blasts of air close up, think broadcast or recording vocals. If you are farther back then it's of no use. If you are using it for anything other than voice it's of no use. Pop filters can alter the tone, only use it if you need to.
