Flatbed Scanner
Very decent flatbed type scanner that is very easy to setup, install, and run.Very easy to configure its settings and there does not appear to be a lot of useless bling in the software.*The bigger size necessitates the need for its own power source. Works on both USB 2.0 and 3.0.*Download and install the drivers & software FIRST prior to turning on the power and connecting the USB cable.*300 dpi seems to be the sweet spot in terms of decent detail and speed of scan.*Be weary of (some of its software settings) the use of "dust removal" On "high" tends to be hyper aggressive and remove some words on both pictures, documents, and PDF's. If you have need to use it, set it on "low".*The more software modification settings enabled the slower the scan can take.Overall, a decent purchase for light to moderate usage. I find in much better than the Cannon Lide series, which I've used extensively in the past.

Scans my large and small format artwork
Great large format scanner so far. The quality of my scans are very nice. The colors are always perfect. My only beef is that the editing tool does not give me the option of cleaning up the margins on my work. Using a mouse-directed pointer for the “erase” function is awkward. I have to jump thru a few hoops to get this accomplished. I do it by cropping the pic and saving it. Later I can resize the pic and have clean margins. It would be nice to have an easier way. I have also scanned my 11x17 inch pics and they also have great color. Just scan at the highest resolution and you’ll be fine. I paired this scanner with a the Canon Pro-300 large format printer and I’m off to the races. Don’t think I’ll be paying a professional printer for copies anytime soon.

Expensive Paperweight, ZERO stars
Bought this new in May 2022 because it advertised being able to scan photos with exact color matching etc... Purchased this to scan my art so I could make copies digitally. However, every scan looked washed out and dull, not vibrant in any way. I tried every configuration offered within it's software and no results changed. Reviews were very positive so I figured I just didn't know what I was doing. I contacted their "customer service" with image attachments to ask help in how to resolve my issues. They kept reply with "return to default settings", which was what I had sent them in the attached files. Never got any help further than that.I put it away for a long time and decided to try a new computer and give it another go 2 years later. Same results. What had changed was the customer reviews. Suddenly, SEVERAL negative reviews matched my issue without any satisfaction. After having an expert look into my scanner, it seems an overseas maker is putting out dysfunctional versions at an alarming rate and possibly uploading fake positive reviews to attract buyers. At this price, I had hoped perhaps my particular model was a bad one and considered buying a replacement. But after having a professional look into it, it seems this is not a safe purchase to gamble with.I've chosen to donate this hunk of junk.

Works well for intended tasks.
Works well. Software installed easily in Windows 11 (unlike older model Canon scanners). I use this to scan newspapers in black and white, so can't speak to colors as others have. One slight complaint is that scanning is a bit slow, but not too bad. Also stitching pdf pages together not smooth, but that's not the scanner's fault. I'm happy so far.

Very very happy would recommend
I was having a hard time finding a scanner that was large enough for 11x17 scans that put out TIF and other high quality formats. I do graphite work and the scans are spot on. Software was easy to install and work with. Occasionally glitchy and needs a restart but I love it for the price.

Customer Service - very helpful
I had some trouble figuring out how to scan scrapbooks that contained photos, newspaper articles, and handwritten information. The preview looked correct, but when scanned, the image dropped some of the text. I emailed customer support (info@viisan.com) and they responded very quickly and gave me detailed instructions (with screenshots) to assist me. The instructions were easy to follow (which options to choose in the settings). This corrected the problem, and I am loving the scanner.

Too good to be true! Colors way off
I bought this to make scans of my oil paintings to make prints. I wanted so badly to like this, so I ignored the bad reviews. So what if it won't pick up fluorescents, I thought. Colors a bit off? I color edit photos all the time! However, the colors were so very very off that I couldn't get them to match no matter what tweaks I made.An A3 size scanner for $350 sounds too good to be true because it is too good to be true. I will say that it was fast, though, and probably would be fine for black and white docs and pics.Save your box and try right away so you are able to return if needed.

Scan resolution not beyond 600dpi
Be sure to note the words, "WIA only support to 600 dpi"."Windows Image Acquisition (WIA) - Win32 apps | Microsoft LearnWIA 2.0 subsystem also includes a basic image processing filter driver add-on that is optionally replaceable by the scanner driver, if the driver chooses to provide a customized image processing filter."The VSCAN installation includes downloading (who has a CD drive, these days?) scanner drivers.Their tutorial specifically shows them choosing 2400dpi setting. The same application used in their tutorial (provided application) only goes up to 600.The user manual says,"The supplied Event Utility software only provide scanning resolution of maximum 600dpi.If you want to scan in a higher resolution image, you can scan within ViiScan program or via TWAIN-compliant applications."Well, I'm using the ViiScan program, and it doesn't do higher resolution.I cannot de-conflict the information available, and I cannot scan beyond 600dpi.
