NT 11+ Practice Papers: English Pack 1

I received my copy of these practice papers today and I'm very happy with the professional production quality. I'm also very happy with the level and type of questions on the papers.These practice papers will be a welcome addition to the resources I have to prepare children for the 11 plus. I would definitely recommend these papers to anyone preparing for an 11 plus exam that has an English element.This pack contains four English papers plus a booklet of multiple choice answer sheets and another booklet with the answers in it. There are 50 questions per paper of which the first half are comprehension questions. The second half of each paper is broken up in to three sections which test vocabulary, spelling and punctuation.

I've bought the collection of the Newell Tuition resources. They've proved to be excellent for exam preparation and can highly recommend them.I found these English practice papers fantastic, clearly a lot of work and attention to detail have been invested into this. I'm not sure where the grammar or punctuation mistakes were, perhaps the negative comment had an older version.

The positive thing about these papers is the reading comprehension texts - they are original and interesting, clearly better than the usual fodder offered up in other 11 plus practice papers. However, the questions are far too easy, and fail to stretch the most able of my tutees. Even my low level Year 4 students can get 70%. My Year 5 ones can whizz through each paper in half the prescribed time, and typically make just an odd mistake. On top of that there are some errors in the spelling and punctuation sections, so I can give no more than two stars.
