Fun Book for Children
I read this as a small child and had not seen it around when my boys were young. I heard it on the radio one day, sung by Carole King. It was the exact same story and the song is "Pierre". I played it for my 4 year old niece on Thanksgiving and she laughed and laughed. I immediately ordered the book to have sent over to her house. She is enjoying it and it is one she'd not had at home or school. A story that leaves an impression for sure.

Have always loved this little book.

I bought this book for my grandson because he always says I donโt care. I remember this book from my childhood. Very disappointing that itโs written in snarky remarks.

Hilarious Book with an Essential Moral!
Somehow I never read this book as a child. I never read it to my children. That will not be the case with my grandchildren. Pierre doesn't care about anything. His parents have to deal with his "I don't care" day in and day out. That is, until a hungry lion arrives when Pierre's parents are away. Needless to say, what happens next will certainly change Pierre's attitude for the better. Highly recommended!

An overlooked classic by Sendak
I never know how to properly review books on Amazon. In this instance, I'd read (and sang) "Pierre" hundreds of times prior to purchasing, so it seems awkward to base the star rating on content. The story is endlessly entertaining, it's weird, it's clever, it rhymes, it has a moral and cute, classically Sendak illustrations. It features a lion and a bratty main character not unlike Max of "Wild Things" fame. And really, if you haven't read it already, are you going to rely on Vine reviewers to give you first insight into a book published in 1962? I wouldn't.So that leaves commenting almost exclusively on this particular edition and the packaging. It's a paperback and tiny. Although I checked the dimensions before buying, I was still surprised at how little the actual book felt. Quality is good for the price and the layout is just like I remembered the classic version being, so no surprise edits there. I bought this as a topper to a gift and I think it was perfect for that purpose. Had I gotten just the book itself, I might have second guessed giving it solo as a present - a bit chintzy. But the story is great and the price is right. Don't hesitate to add this to your order. Just be aware that the most substantial part will be the writing, not the physical.

One of the best kids book
Great illustrator, cute story, and a family classic. For the kids who say, "I don't care."

Great message!
This is the second best childrenโs book by message. The top spot is reserved for The Plot Against the King, by Kash Patel.

A Tale Worth Repeating
There's a story behind this story: My son and I used to read this book together, often, when he was 5 or 6 years old. We still share a laugh whenever we compare a stupid, simple task that is like "folding the folding chair." Get my point? Say for example, you want someone to run to the store and pick up some milk. For encouragement, you would say, "I'll let you fold the folding chair!"You see, Pierre was always answering, "I don't care" to any comment. You have to just guess, or read the book, to find out what happened. But, the story behind the story is: I bought this book for my son's 28th birthday in March 2017. You couldn't imagine his surprise at tearing open the wrapper. Still weeks later, we share a laugh about this book, and folding the folding chair.

Excellent book. We saw Tom Hollander read it on Cbeebies for the bedtime story and had to have it. The book is fabulous, however, it's condition was not very good, More 'good or fair'. It had a chunk out of the top of it. Nethertheless, overall happy.

Great storytelling, rhyme and illustration
This dinky picture book has it all, with a strong, tongue-in-cheek, moral message, a lion and a reckless hero. The story, the outstanding rhyme and the captivating Sendak supreme illustration make it a 'must' for every story sharer.

My favourite book from childhood, purchased to rekindle old memories, but was pinched by a friend's kid who read it once and loved it.
