Good price, sturdy, does the job
Never changed a spring before, but having had one spontaneously shear and fall out while car was parked up I decided I would have a go myself putting a new spring in as half the job had been done already :-). Chose these a) becuase they looked sturdy and safer with the double hooks and b) because they looked good value. Found them easy to use, gradually tightening each one by equal number of turns using 21mm socket to ensure equal compression on opposite sides of the spring. These compressors well up to the job had no concerns about their grip on the spring if you tighten them them alternately and gradually each side. Popped the spring in place and slackened off gradually each side again. Job done :-). All thats left to do is tobise them to remove and replace the other side when the rain stops :-) Would recommend.

Heavy duty, work, crude, 1 small problem.
These are heavy duty ones. They are strong, and have a god sized hook. I've used them on my Volvo XC70 springs and they do the job. They are crudely made, I had images of poor people in flip flops in dangerous places making these, you'll see what I mean , credit to them though because they work. The only problem is that when winding the nut it has a large lip and that dug onto the spring and was unavoidable., remember to lube the threads to save yourself some ball ache.Definitely recommend these.

Solid product but much better with 2 sets!
Nice quality. I used these with another similar pair of clamps I already had so I had FOUR of them on the spring and it is waaay easier and much safer as theres less stress on each clamp. I always hated doing coil springs, if one clamp slips off you could literally lose your head!I'd looked at getting an expensive set as my existing set just didn't lock very well but from the ones I looked at even the expensive ones seemed very hit and miss in terms of the locking mechanics.Id strongly suggest using TWO sets of these spaced around the spring. Took me 15 mins to get the spring off and onto a new strut and felt really safe. The hooks grip well especially in comparison to my original set. I'd suggest greasing the threads up a bit before use.The turning heads weren't a good fit at all for a ratchet socket, one fitted, the other didn't but just used a spanner instead.

Spring compressors
These are sturdy and cope with the job well. Thanks

difficult to use
I think this might be more useful for large diameter coils as the distance between tips is large. I struggled using this on my car. Be aware you need a 21 mm nut as well!!! if you don't already have one then consider cost of nut ! I expected this to be either 20 or 22 which are common!
