Q: Is this product good a non marring application? The two pieces of steel need to be seperated so they can slide without scratching the coating.

In order to act as a bearing material between two pieces of steel, speeds will need to be relatively low so there is not heat build up. If the steel is coated, that coating will need to be durable too, paint would wear through in time, but wear should all but cease when the smooth steel is rubbing on UHMW PE. In this regard it will behave similarly to nylon or Delrin but will last much longer.

Q: what is the melting point can it hold a skillet on top of it after coming off the stove without melting?

Wrong application for UHMW-PE, with a 280 F melting, 180 F operating, way too low for your use - and certainly not the most cost effective solution. Use a silicone rubber pad instead. Less expensive and working temperature of 570 F + or -.

Q: Would a 1/8 inch thick strip be flexible enough to wrap around the edge of a 2 foot diameter circle?

Should work. The only problem area would be the butted or overlapped ends. The plastic does not stay bent on its own. The ends may not lay flat. Not knowing your design considerations, you may wish to factor that in if a perfect arc is needed for the entire length (circumference).

The top and bottoms on my purchases were clear. The edges were rough.
